Testing Functional Exoskeletons
Exoskeletons are posed to change the lives of everyone. They can improve mobility for the disabled, strengthen emergency rescue workers, and keep soldiers safer. Currently most working exoskeletons are out of reach of the public, confined mostly to research and military. With this competition we hope to change this.
The ACE Competition is an event to test the functionality of load-bearing leg exoskeletons in real-world situations. The event's obstacle course challenge simulates a firefighter with 75 lbs of equipment navigating through difficult terrain likely to be found in an emergency situation. Through this challenge, engineering students can test exoskeletons that reduce the burden of equipment weight in difficult environments.
